Maya Angelou: What she left behind

We've lost another awe inspiring soul: Marguerite Ann Johnson, more widely known as Maya Angelou.

Born April 4, 1928 in St. Louis, Missouri, United States, of an African American decent. A poet, writer, actor, director, producer, teacher, civil rights defender among other things but most famous for her work "I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings."

Women like Maya are a rare treasure nowadays. I hope she inspires the women of today even through her death, to have passion for more worthy causes rather than being obsessed with outward beauty, sensuality and posting pictures of oneself on Facebook. Come on girls, we've got more character than that.

Maya died May 28, 2014 at the age of eighty-six at home. She is and will be remembered long for her autobiographies. For one who has no university writing  degree, she sure has earned a place in literary history.

Women-ish honors Angelou by immortalizing her in the hall of "Amazing Women" who shaped history through their extra ordinary skills, noteworthy campaigns or just simply by being outstanding.
