Christmas love

Christmas Day (Dec. 25, 2011) fell on a Sunday and we went to attend church. I sat a chair way from a woman who used to lead the ‘Women’s group’ at my church. She had just been put in a wheelchair herself just the week before. She had been diagnosed  with brain cancer a few months ago and just waiting now to be taken home to heaven.

Although Christmas is a joyous time for many, not all are having a merry one. There are those going through the season away from family, lost a loved one, dealing with different kind of crisis and some, with impending death.

This woman at my church, though at the twilight of her life, in her 60’s, never been married, have no children, is loved and cared for by a loving, thoughtful nephew and very good Christian friends and neighbor, who takes time to visit her, take her to church, assist her and prays for and with her.

This is what Christmas is about, unconditional love. The love of God for man that He gave us Jesus to die for us to redeem us from sin, more than that, to give us hope, comfort, love we can’t measure or live up to.

And these brethren who give time and affection towards this very sick woman is applying that love from God through works and prayers and they inspire me so much not just this Christmas but will, throughout the coming year.

John 3:16 - For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.
