Close call (with pictures and footage)

We christened the cottage my mom and dad built on the third floor of the house yesterday. The cottage is made from bamboo and nipa grass, a place for family hang outs and playground for the children as well. We had barbecue and lunch together after church.

The day seemed really perfect until a fire broke out from a nearby residential area and if  our neighbor’s house get caught in it, ours will definitely not escape it.

My first instinct was to pray and ask for prayer and the person who came to mind was our Pastor. He passed the message along to other church mates and posted the prayer request on Facebook and I know and believe that prayer made a difference. (video taken from the cottage on the rooftop. Trees block the view)

Not long after, the fire trucks started coming and about 40 of them arrived and surrounded the area. There were 8-10 fire trucks in our street alone. It was a bit scary because the wind was strong and the fire could spread wide easily, the air smelled of burnt materials and the smoke was beginning to blow our way.

Soon, concerned people started calling the house, texting and posting and sending messages on Facebook. Thank God we’ve been kept safe although I feel bad for those who are not so fortunate.

Thank you to all who were concerned and prayed. It is indeed in times of trouble that we find friends and discover the kindness of strangers.

John 3:16 - For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.
