Moral decay
Here’s a list of things that used to be morally unacceptable not so long ago that have now either become legal, an art form, a status symbol, a human right, if not the norm.
- Same sex marriage – Now legal in some countries and states. It’s now a human right. Who would’ve thought four scores and seven years ago that this would ever be possible? I hope incest remain a criminal offense.
- Abortion – Also legal in some countries and states. I’m all for family planning and planned pregnancy but not abortion. If you’re not ready to have a baby, don’t get pregnant.
- Cohabitation – Have we really lost belief in the institution of marriage?And we use ‘love’ as an excuse for living –in together and giving, and getting free sex? If you really ‘love’ then why not marry?
- Illegal drugs, alcohol and gambling – The use of them has now become a sort of status symbol. A party won’t be cool nowadays if there’s no substance abuse. You’re not if hip you don’t drink or ever smoked. And in my country, some are proposing that gambling be legalized too. Having vices makes one cool now.
- Men’s Magazines (used to be called smut) –is now an art form. Before, women who pose in them were looked down to, now they’re looked up to. The modern pornographic magazines have taken a new outfit, glossy, digitalized pages and it’s now considered glamorous to be featured nude in one of those (well, in the showbiz world it is).
- Promiscuity and pre-marital sex – seems to be the norm in the twenty first century. You’re an outcast if you’re still a virgin.
…and the list goes on…
What’s happening to our world? We’re justifying our weaknesses instead of overcoming them. Are we condoning because we can’t beat them? Have we given up? Have we really become slaves of our desires that we’ve lost control or could the moral decline of our society be the result of our continuing defiance of a Holy and righteous God, and our refusal to be governed by His laws?
It’s time to think and evaluate.
