Ano? (Tagalog lang #04)
I wrote about my recent trip to Baguio and forgot to say what dialect people there speak. Well, English is widely spoken there so is Tagalog and a dialect called “Ilocano”.
When traveling to the Philippines, it’s important to know , at least, some of the basic words in Tagalog for inquiries and direction. So here are a few that could help you get around and get answers if ever you’re coming for a visit.
Words:
Ano? (uh-noh?) = What?
Saan? (suh-un) = Where?
Sino? (see-noh) = Who?
Magkano? (mug-kuh-noh) = How much
Alin? (uh-leen) = Which?
Use in a sentence:
Ano your name?
What is your name?
Saan to go?
Where to go?
Sino you?
Who are you
Magkano the mangoes?
How much are the mangoes?
Alin?
Which one?
If you can memorize and say the words above correctly, you won’t get lost here. Happy Trip!
