Meeting the family (The advantages)

The guy -

So there’s this guy who wants to meet your parents huh? Why oh why do you dread that?

This gesture of the guy shows he has respect for your family and wants to get to know them and you more closely. He wants to know how they are and how you’re like around them and this is a good thing! I suppose he also want to make a good impression on the parents, to gain their trust and show them he’s not just some jerk meeting you secretly in some street corner, a plus pogi (handsome) point for him.

If you’re seriously considering marrying this guy then presenting him to your family should be something exciting to you. You’ll get to show him off.

If you fear he isn’t going to like them, well, better to know this early if he can accept them or not. You see, when you marry him, your mom and dad are going to be his mom and dad and his will be yours. You will have a lifetime of family gatherings to attend together so it’s inevitable. You can’t hide him from them nor your family from him forever.

Your family –

Letting him meet your parents and siblings will be good for him and for you. Your family will get to assess him and see bad qualities you might not be seeing because you’re at present, very bias because of your feelings for this guy.

If you’re afraid they won’t like him, well, consider what they say and weight it out, they might have a point. How can you even think so far ahead that you’re going to marry him and have kids and spend the rest of your life with him if he hasn’t even met your family yet and you haven’t met his?
