Keith Green

Make my life a prayer to you

Keith Green is one of the best musical talents the Christian world will know. A friend introduced him to me in the late 90s, 15 years after his death. His songs always touch me deep.

On November 27, 2001, Keith Green was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame.

On April 3, 2006, Green was honored with the ASCAP Crescendo Award at the 28th annual ASCAP Christian Music Awards presentation dinner. His widow, Melody Green, was present to receive the award for her late husband.

Thanks for dropping by my blog and leaving and comment!

I have been a huge Keith Green fan since the early 1990's. I had two opportunities to work and visit at the ministry he founded in Texas many years ago.

It was a very moving experience to walk the grounds of Last Days ministries and really take in everything God used Keith to do in his short life.

Blessings,
Jason

You worked at the ministry he founded?

that must've been an awesome experience.

Oh, it was incredible. They had a discipleship school there and I had several friends who were in the school, as well as others who had finished and were working on the Last Days campus.

I went two separate times, each time for about 2 weeks. They had a policy: if you slept there and ate the food, you had to work. So I worked in the warehouse, shipping books and teaching tapes.

Every day started at 8:00AM with breakfast, followed by about an hour of worship. It was really incredible. I did get to meet and speak with Winkie Pratney, who was Keith Green's primary mentor. If you have never heard of Winkie or read his books, tell me and I will direct you to some good web stuff.

Blessings!

I read of Winkie when I Googled "Keith Green" and ended up in Wikipedia but I haven't seen any of his works.

Here are some really good Winkie Pratney websites:

www.winkiepratney.com

www.moh.org

Both of these have a lot of his teaching. On the primary site, I believe you can download a .zip file that has a TON of his articles.

Also, check out the video on my blog of Leonard Ravenhill (newest entry). Leonard was another HUGE influence on Keith Green. They lived across the street from one another. Kuya Kevin will vouch for Leonard, too. He has been a really important influence on us.
